Dr. Moritz Liesegang is a mineralogist/petrologist. Between 2015 and 2018, he completed his doctorate at the Institute of Geological Sciences at Freie Universität Berlin. In his doctoral thesis, he dealt with the formation of amorphous silica and its transformation in geological systems.
From 2018 to 2020, he worked as a postdoc at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn in the DFG research group FOR 2685 on the topic "From cell to cell, tissue to tissue: Pathways in low-temperature wood silicification". He then moved to the Institute of Geological Sciences at the Free University of Berlin as a permanent research assistant and head of the electron beam microprobe and X-ray diffractometry laboratory.
Moritz Liesegang joined the RMS Foundation in 2022 as Team Leader Materials Structure and is responsible for services in the fields of XPS, metallography, light and electron microscopy.
