Launch of a new SNSF project to improve hip implants

Today we had the pleasure of celebrating the approval of our the SNSF project  „Comprehensive analysis of determinants of polyethylene wear and the related tissue response to improve outcomes in total hip arthroplasty“! 🎉

SNF_F25_0003_1512x1512The project "Comprehensive analysis of determinants of polyethylene wear and the related tissue response to improve outcomes in total hip arthroplasty" brings together leading experts from the University of Basel, the University of Bern, Rush University Chicago and the RMS Foundation, together with numerous clinical partners across Europe.

The contribution of the RMS will be to investigate the chemical and mechanical properties, the wear resistance and the type of wear particles of explanted acetabular cups. This will help us to identify the best implant materials for patients - for an even safer and longer-lasting restoration.

A big thank you to everyone involved for the successful collaboration in the initial phase, we are very much looking forward to the project!
