Microcalorimetric measurements on solutions and solids

Description:

Measurement of heat released by a chemical and/or physical reaction to determine thermodynamic properties of solutions and solids. The resulting heat flow data in the milliwatt range and under isothermal conditions are continuously plotted as a function of time. Injection and mixing of liquids under isothermal conditions is possible during the measurement, e.g. to investigate initial phases of a cement reaction.

Titrimetric analyses

Description: Calculation of an unknown quantity of a dissolved substance after reaction with a reagent solution and exact measurement of the volume of the consumed reagent solution and consideration of the content of the active substance. The substance to be determined is quantitatively transferred from a chemically precisely defined initial state to an equally defined final state.

Determination of the pH value

Description: Determination of the acidity or alkalinity (pH value between 0 and 14) of an aqueous solution.

Density determination of solids and liquids

Description:

Density determination according to Archimedes' principle (measurement of buoyancy force). The density of a solid is determined with the aid of a liquid whose density is known. The solid is weighed once in air and then in the auxiliary liquid. The density can be calculated from the two weighings.
The density of a liquid is determined using a displacer whose volume is known. The displacer is weighed once in air and then in the liquid whose density is to be determined. The density can be calculated from the two weighings.
