The demands on implant materials and on their manufacturing and processing are getting higher and higher with regard to cost efficiency and biocompatibility (e.g. a more detailed knowledge of the chemical composition of the bulk and on the surface). At the same time, the requirements increase due to the increasing design complexity of the implants.
