History of the RMS

On 14 February 1985, Dr Robert Mathys established a non-profit organisation for the promotion of medical and clinical research as well as of technical development and further training in their fields of application.

The board of trustees of the Dr Robert Mathys Foundation with seat in Bettlach was made up of Dr Robert Mathys Sr. as President, Hugo Mathys, Lisbeth Mathys, Reinhold Mathys, Robert Mathys Jr., and Ursula Marzo-Mathys. When restructuring the founding company (Mathys Medical Ltd, Bettlach), its research department and test laboratory were incorporated in the Dr Robert Mathys Foundation (RMS). On 11 March 1992, the statutes were adapted to the new conditions.

The Foundation’s steady growth into a competent research institute and service laboratory is based on wide experience and know-how in medical technology.

Since the death of Dr Robert Mathys, the board of trustees is made up as follows: Robert Mathys Jr. as president, Lisbeth Mathys, Reinhold Mathys, Dr Urs Kaiser, and Urs Stuber.
